Success Stories: Transforming Lives

Our body is a self-rectifying dynamic whole with a network of interrelated and interacting energy called Qi (pronounced Chi). There are pathways of Qi in the body which directly pertain to our internal organs. These pathways are referred to as acupuncture channels or meridians which contain acupuncture points. Needles are inserted into acupuncture points to redirect stagnated Qi, strengthen the weakened energy and invigorate the blood in order to realign the whole body’s balance.

Acupuncture needles are extremely fine and made of surgical stainless steel. They are sterile and disposable. Our Acupuncturists are highly skilled to insert needles into the skin with minimal discomfort; most patients feel calm and relaxed. Some patients experience dull, heavy, tingling sensations or numbness which indicates the flow of Qi. Acupuncture has been practiced for over two thousand years and is effective in relieving pain and treating chronic illness.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

The practice of acupuncture to enhance beauty dates back to China’s Song Dynasty (960-1279 A.D.) This ancient treatment was reserved during this time to Chinese Royalty and the elite, known in China as Mei Rong.

How Does It Work?

Cosmetic Acupuncture, also known as acupuncture facelift or facial rejuvenation acupuncture, is a virtually pain-free, entirely natural process. This treatment mobilizes and directs one’s own internal resources – the body’s “Qi” – to rejuvenate the face and revitalize the whole body. This non-toxic, health-promoting method uses the time-tested methods of Acupuncture to erase years from your face, safely, painlessly and without surgery or side effects.

It treats from the inside-out to create radiant health and enhances one’s appearance by diminishing the signs of stress and aging. Hair-fine needles are placed to stimulate and reinvigorate the body’s energy flow. The effects are improvement of the elasticity of facial muscles, the smoothing of wrinkles, a brighter complexion and overall rejuvenation.

Benefits Of Cosmetic Acupuncture

  • May erase as many as five to fifteen years from the face
  • Improves muscle and skin tone
  • Increases the production and dispersal of collagen
  • Reduces sagging and swelling
  • Eliminates fine lines and decreases large wrinkles
  • Moisturizes the skin by increasing circulation of blood and lymph to the face
  • Improves facial colour
  • Reduces double chin
  • Tightens pores
  • Brightens eyes
  • Helps lift droopy eyelids
  • Slows the aging process
  • Improves hormonal balance to help reduce acne
  • Promotes overall health and wellbeing
  • Brings out innate beauty and radiance

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

The Yin Yang Theory is the fundamental of TCM and acupuncture. Yin represents material and substance while Yang represents energy and function; each is mutually dependent on one another to obtain balance and well-being. TCM treatments take on a unique approach whereby symptoms of the whole body are collected and classified into syndromes. This means seemingly unrelated symptoms may be classified into the same syndrome and treated in the same way. In other cases one symptom can be categorized into multiple syndromes and treated differently. TCM views symptoms as a manifestation of the imbalances of the whole body and treatments are performed to obtain equilibrium. TCM modalities offered at RWC include: Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Tuina massage, Cupping and Gua Sha.

Common Indications of TCM:

  • Pain management
  • Gastro-intestinal issues
  • Skin conditions
  • Stress, depression and anxiety
  • Sleep problems
  • Headaches
  • Allergies
  • Boosting immune system

Chinese Herbal Medicine

There are over 350 herbs used in TCM; composed mostly of plants but also including animal products and minerals. Chinese herbal medicine is used for stronger and longer lasting effects and when combined with acupuncture it has proven effective in treating chronic conditions such as infertility, insomnia and a variety of mental wellness conditions.

Acupuncture Toronto Downtown FAQs

  • What Should I Expect During My First Acupuncture Session?

Your first visit to our centre for acupuncture will begin with a comprehensive consultation. Our registered acupuncturist will review your medical history, discuss your current health concerns, and understand your wellness goals. This conversation is crucial for customizing your treatment. During the acupuncture session, you'll be asked to relax on a treatment table. Our acupuncturist will then gently insert very fine, sterile needles into specific acupuncture points on your body. These points are selected based on your unique health needs.

  • Can Acupuncture Be Combined With Other Treatments?

Absolutely! Acupuncture is a versatile therapy that complements many other treatment modalities. At Rosedale Wellness Centre, we often integrate acupuncture with other therapies such as massage therapy, physiotherapy, chiropractic care, and naturopathy. This integrative approach is designed to enhance the effectiveness of each treatment, providing a more holistic path to wellness

  • How Often Should I Receive Acupuncture Treatments?

The frequency of acupuncture treatments is highly individualized. It depends on various factors, including the nature and severity of your condition, your overall health, and how your body responds to acupuncture. Some clients may see significant improvement after just a few sessions, while others with more chronic conditions might benefit from regular treatments over a longer period.

  • Are There Any Side Effects or Risks Associated With Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a safe and well-tolerated treatment when performed by a qualified practitioner. Side effects are rare and usually mild when they do occur. Some clients may experience slight bruising or soreness at the needle sites. These symptoms are typically temporary and resolve quickly. Our acupuncturists use sterile, single-use needles to ensure the highest safety standards.
