Custom Orthotics

A custom orthotic is a device designed to align the foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position. They look like insoles, but are biomechanical medical appliances that are custom made to correct your specific foot imbalance which will help reduce stress and strain on your body. The plastic body of the custom orthotic helps to re-align the foot byredirecting and reducing certain motion that takes place during walking.

The symptoms of poor foot mechanics can include any one of the following:

  • Localized foot pain
  • Bunions, hammer toes
  • Arch/heel pain
  • Leg/knee pain
  • Hip or back pain – even neck pain

Braces and splints can be useful for acute injuries, chronic conditions, and the prevention of injury. There is good evidence to support the use of some braces and splints. They have a relatively low cost, and no adverse effects. Bracing can be used for the following conditions:

  • ACL Reconstruction
  • Tennis/Golfers Elbow
  • Knee Osteoarthtris
  • Carpal Tunnel

There are four main kinds of braces:

  • Prophylactic braces are designed to protect knees from injuries during contact sports like football.
  • Functional braces provide support to knees that have already been injured.
  • Rehabilitative braces limit harmful knee movement while a knee is healing after an injury or surgery.
  • Unloader/offloader braces are designed to provide relief from arthritis in the knees.

Compression Socks, Hosiery & Sleeves

Heavy and tired legs and swollen ankles are signs of chronic venous insufficiency, which is a serious disease with real consequences. Around 15 percent of the population currently suffers from venous diseases. If you find that your shoes are getting tight during the day, this could be a visible sign for a venous weakness. Wearing compression stocking is key with the treatment of venous disorders. This treatment is prescribed by a physician to treat phlebitis, thrombosis and aftercare following surgery, sclerotherapy and any other forms of varicose vein treatment, and also to relieve all conditions of chronic venous disease (heavy legs, varicose veins, edemas, leg ulcers). It can also be prescribed to prevent venous issues during pregnancy and long distance travel. If no contraindications like severe arterial insufficiency are present, compression stockings of lower pressure can be purchased without prescription.
